STOZ individually have been performing in the Jazz world for over 25 years playing with many musicians. This trio features them in a different light showcasing their individual musical spirit whist finding a unified blend together. They play songs, forms and sometimes go exploring elsewhere.

Stephen Magnusson is considered one of Australia’s most accomplished, versatile and distinct musicians with incredible technique and an astoundingly beautiful tone. In 2000 he was awarded equal first prize in the National Jazz Award at Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival. He has released over 9 records, with his Ensemble MAGNET – awarded the 2013 Bell Award for Best Australian Contemporary Jazz Album. Stephen has worked with many artists including Charlie Haden, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ricki Lee Jones, Sinead O’Connor, John Cale, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Paul Grabowsky, Vince Jones, Katie Noonan, Lisa Young, Christine Sullivan, Michelle Nicole, Martin Breeze, The Assumptions Trio, Megan Washington, Paul Kelly, Jim Black, Mike Nock, Barney McAll, Enrico Rava, Arthur Blythe and many others.

Sam Anning is one of Australia’s leading musical voices as a double bassist and composer. He has released four award-winning albums as a band leader. Anning has become an in-demand bassist, touring extensively throughout North America and internationally with performances at the Montreal, Vancouver, Detroit, Jazz a Vienne, Copenhagen, Port au Prince, and Panama Jazz Festivals. He has performed with jazz legends Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner, Ari Hoenig, George Garzone, Gilad Hekselman, Greg Osby, and Charlie Haden, among many others.

Dave Beck is one of the most versatile drummers in Australia. He carries a wealth of experience across many musical styles and is in constant demand as a freelance musician and teacher. He has performed at many of the great jazz festivals around the world including Montreux, Rome, Pori, Sweden, Copenhagen, Finland and Korea. Hiis list of performances with jazz legends include Joe Lovano, James Morrison, Robert Hurst, Bernie McGann, Vince Jones, Don Burrows, Dale Barlow, Paul Grabowsky and Steve Magnusson. He has been the principal drummer for many major musical productions as well, including the Lion King, Matilda, King Kong, Wicked and Mary Poppins.
