JMI has recently been approved by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) as a CRICOS provider, meaning that we can now offer the Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance to international students. If you’re not an Australian citizen or permanent resident in Australia, you can now apply to study music at JMI as an international student and study our renowned Bachelor program endorsed by Wynton Marsalis.

The Bachelor program is one of the most comprehensive performance degrees available in Australia. The course is highly practical with the majority of contact hours spent on your instrument. As stated by Wynton Marsalis,
“This is one of the first jazz curriculums that addresses the entire fundamental range of jazz styles; from New Orleans to Bebop to Modern, it’s all there. JMI has developed a template that should be followed by schools who are serious about the study and performance of jazz music.”
Students at JMI have rated its overall learning experience higher than any other tertiary institution in the field of Creative Arts in Australia, demonstrating that JMI is an ideal option to study music. These results have been collected by the Quality Indicators of Learning and Teaching (QILT) which administers surveys to students at universities and independent tertiary providers and is the only comprehensive survey of current higher education students in Australia. Results from the QILT survey is available at the QILT website
